Help me get my Avermedia USB TV tuner to work

    Howdy all,

I got the Avermedia AverTV Hybrid Volar Max USB ATSC TV tuner.

I downloaded the linux driver from Avermedia's website: http://www.avermedia-usa.com/AVerTV/...1&tab=APDriver
But when I run it it says it can't detect kernel 2.6.x and aborts installation.

Looks like the driver hasn't been updated since 2009. Can someone help me get this tuner to work with Kubuntu 12.10?

    Hello,

Don't know if you manged to get it working or not but here's some pointers. I know for a fact that Ubuntu 12.10 does not install the kernel headers by default. This causes pains when trying to use the binary blobs provided by Nvidia and AMD because they need to compile some sutff. I don't know if this is the case with Kubuntu though. I got the script working (did not install the driver though):

    Code:
    sudo apt-get install linux-headers-generic dialog
    Hope this helps. Good luck.
