VMware Player Fails to Install Network Driver?

I load VMware player, and it says it needs to enable some modules in the kernel. I click ok, and it starts installing the drivers. It install all the drivers just fine, except my NIC driver. It tells me there was an error and see a log file for more info...but there is no log file in the location specified.
    Unable to start services.

See log file /tmp/vmware-root/modconfig-13487.log for details.
    Found a fix:

were you running it as root ?
    I don't think that's necessary but it's been a wile sense I played with it .
did you install the guest additions into your VM ?
that may/may not be necessary for the NIC to work
at present I'm playing with the Oracle VM virtual machine.

I installed vmware player as root(sudo), but this happens when trying to launch vmware player for the first time.I was starting the app as user. I applied the patch in my link though and it solved the problem. Thanks for the response though.
