This is what I have said all along, the method I posted for pinning the blue shell ppa does not work. I to was upgraded to the GTK firefox, but I changed the pin priority to 1001 and did an update and upgrade and got firefox-kde back.

Same problem here Moray33..updated this morning and lost my KDE intergration. Interesting since the Blue-shell FF 16.0.2 was updated only 2 days ago But now the main repos are in action again. I thought pinning to 1000 would avoid this problem.

So I pinned Blue-shell to 1001 and sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get dist-upgrade. This took be back to the Blue-Shell version. Ran updates again and no main repo update for Firefox came up.

I've lost Firefox KDE integration.

Me too. I have the blue-shell ppa enabled and pinned, why this happened? I don't get it.

According to https://launchpad.net/~blue-shell/+a...uild_state=all, the packages are currently being built. Depending on how busy Launchpad is, this could take some time. Please check back later.

The blue-shell PPA shows Firefox as "currently building". Synaptic can't see the blue-shell PPA version of Firefox on my system (64-bit Precise). It currently only shows firefox-kde-support and kmozillahelper as the only two packages currently available from the blue-shell PPA. I'm guessing the package will be available soon-ish and then an apt-get upgrade should grab it.

What? Even having pinned the blue-shell ppa, Firefox was updated to Ubuntu version 16.0.2!
I've changed pin priority to 1001 to downgrade it but it didn't work.

What I have found though is that Firefox won't display the application to use in the dialog box when I click on a link. It always says "open with browse". For example previously with the blue-shell version (kubuntu 12.04), when I clicked on a .nzb link it would show "open with Kwooty" in the dialog box, not now.

SOLVED: Downloaded firefox-kde-support and all is well.

The three asterisks point to the one that's installed. After you pinned the Blue Shell PPA, you can tell that this is the one that's installed because it's the one indicated by the asterisks.

Something that we should all be aware of is that the Firefox binary in the Blue Shell PPA is recompiled from source, and it may not always contain the absolute latest bits from Mozilla. If, for instance, Mozilla fixes a security vulnerability and the standard Ubuntu Firefox is updated, there's no guarantee that the Blue Shell Firefox will be updated at the exact same time.

Also, to answer potential questions in advance, there is no blame to place here. Package maintainers operate on their own schedules. Even the Ubuntu packages might be a bit behind the Mozilla fix; if you really want the bleedingest edge, you'll have to compile from source yourself. To use the Blue Shell PPA, knowing that it may involve occasional delays in being updated, is a risk decision each of us must make on our own.

What is the possibility of modifying the Kubuntu Firefox installer to point to the PPA? Is that not kosher?
if not, how much of kmozillahelper is needed just to add mimetype support for Kubuntu's Firefox users? I.e. leave out the theming, filepicker, printer, etc, just to allow for a stock Firefox (Well. a stock Ubnuntu version that is) to work properly?
