Turned on desktop effects with OpenGL. Effects work but the right 4/5 of my screen blacks out. Desktop effects with XRender also works and also blacks out the right side of my screen but only about 1/5 of it. What could be wrong? Thanks in advance for your help.

What graphic adapter do you have?
After I installed Kubuntu 12.04 LTS 64Bit final
my nVidia GeForce GTS 450 was automatically setup.
(I did not have to install nVidia proprietary driver & desktop effect were turned on)
If you had to turn on desktop effects manually, then there may be a problem.

Jesse, Thanks for your reply. I didn't actually turn on desktop effects. I usually use KDE/openbox with no desktop effects so simply logged out, selected the plasma desktop, and logged back in. My nvidia is an NV17 [GeForce4 MX 440]. Note that in the part of the screen I can see, the effects work fine.Comment
