When I try to install something my authorization prompt doesn't show up

The title clearly explains the problem, when trying to install a package, either directly, through an installer, the package manager, or the software center, I am told that propper authorization was not provided, but I was never prompted to authorize

Do you have the package kdesudo installed? If you dont have that package, there is no way for your GUI programs to authorize your password.

Open the task manager, search "kdesu" and kill everything with "kdesu" or "kdesud" in the name in the name. Then try again but definitely try whatthefunk's suggestion first.
