Taskbar displays only icons?

I noticed some folks have this nice little feature, but I cannot figure out how to change without installing a 3rd party dock application.

Basically, I want the Taskbar to display only the application icon (like when you add it to the panel from the kmenu).

That looks like the icon tasks widget, I don't think its installed by default, but it is in the repos (and is part of kde).
