Intel GM45 Express Chipset Driver needed

I need a driver for my notebook. HP Pavilion dv6- 1030us Entertainment Notebook PC. I am runing Kubuntu version 12.04 amd64bit. I have been trying to get STO (Star Trek Online) running. My latest attemp is with Play on linux. I searched the STO forums and found out i needed IE6 so i got that and now I get a blank window that should be the patcher and a IE6 window that says script error. I am thinking it might be my driver because a red in several forums that you need the specific video driver for your machine. Intel's web site said to ask my linux distro for the driver. My notebook uses the Intel Mobile 4 Series Integrated Grapics Controller. Acorrding to Kinfo center for my renderer I use: Mesa DRI Moble IntelA GM45 Express Chipset. Thanks.
Just to remind users and devs that Ubuntu and its flavors have a long way to go to be as usr friendly as they should be.

You already have the intel drivers - they are free and open drivers out of the box. Playonlinux is based om Wine, and IE historically is troublesome. Have you investigated Playonlonux's site for info? Links to how you are using this to install STO might help.

I have looked all over for instructions on getting this to work. The STO forums - Even the games devs have chimed in sometimes-, the wine data base, ect... This is the furthest i have gotten. I should be able to get it to patch. Many people have gotten it to work somewhat were they can play a bit. Many players using Kubuntu or other variant using precise. I suspect a graphic problem but what? I am going to try installing d3dx9 and see if that helps... I aso installed corefonts. Still no furthur progress.

        http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManage...sion&iId=19203 says you need ie7+

you should be able to install ie8 with winetricks according to the same link.

Also note that your graphics card might not be powerful enough to play it, especially through wine.

Play on linux only goes up to ie6. I have been playing on this computer via Winblow$ since open beta so my graphics card is not the issue. I just tried again after installing pk7 zip via Mun:

Considering winehq says you need at least ie7 I would suspect that is you issue... if playonlinux doesn't have at least 7 then you should be able to use winetricks to install ie7+ to the playonlinux prefix.
