Well, I finallt bit the bullet and reinstalled with the Precise mini CD iso from the Ubuntu archives. The install is working like a charm now. -
I was checking for any bug reports concerning this situation and it seems there was a circular dependancy problem with qdbus and libqt4-dbus (here is the launchpad report). Apparently the update to 4.8.1 for KDE hasn't fixed the problem (still). Any ideas to fix this temporarily?Leave a comment:

I was thinking , that they (the packagers) forget to fix the dependencies for all the libqt4-* debs. I will wait for the fix to come through, whether it comes in the 4.8.1 bugfix or not, unless there is another package I need (I found I needed python-xkit to fix my nvidia driver problem.)Originally posted by SecretCode View PostLeave a comment:

Possible solutions ... you could try aptitude although that's often more fussy than apt-get.
You could wait ... I'm not sure but it looks like some of those packages are depending on exact versions of other packages instead of minimum versions; maybe the packagers will sort this out. I think this sometimes happens with pre-release, um, releases. (A wild guess is that qdbus and libqt4-help and so on ought to have versions "4:4.8.0-1ubuntu8" with dependencies on the packages you already have at that version).Leave a comment:

Upgrade problem with qdbus.
Ihave run into a little problem updating my precise install here. Here is the output when I use apt-get -f install (I tried it using Muon, It was a no-go)
