It's a Korean Unicode font, which won't bother English or other language users, but an error during upgrade, and every time you fire up KWrite or other KDE apps is a wart. You'll see the error message when you fire up KWrite or Kate to fix it.

Konact froze rock solid on me too, dunno if it was related - couldn't restarted it until I fixed the font problem and rebooted. But it might have been just the reboot.

There wasn't a script error in Font-config error when you updated Precise, i.e., it didn't have the missing ">"?

No, I did the updates after I had read your posting and kept an eye out for any errors.
I noticed several hours later there was another update related to fonts and again it went without a hitch.
Yes I do have the mscore fonts installed.

The only outstanding issue I have is with the nVidia driver making 3D barely possible, it crashes at least every couple of hours or so, the last Xorg updates have made it even more fragile.
