Its not a Left4Dead addon to minecratf, its a Minecraft addon to Left4Dead.

Rather than start a new thread, I thought I'd use this one to notify Minecraft lovers that a Minecraft addon to "Left 4 Dead" is neat, if you are into that sort of stuff.

Is there any down side to cranking the Xms/Xmx values way up? I have 8GB of ram to play with.

No need to up Xms much, Xmx can go as high as you like (though best under the actual amount of ram you have

I tend to run it with Xms1G and Xms 4G (it really dosn't need more then this... and will stop it taking down your system should it develop a memory leak).

Incase you want to know, Xms is the starting ram and Xmx is the max, hit F3 ingame to see the actual usage.

Also, I am having no (beyond the usual bugs that is ) problems with running it on openjdk over suns.

Yes, java-6-openjdk.

I run it with this command:
java -jar -Xmx1024M -Xms512M -d64 minecraft.jar
from the menu.

The -d64 makes it fly on my dual core i3 64bit Acer 7739. The Xmx and Xms are important too.

Is that using the OpenJDK? last I tried I had poor results with that (64 bit)

Minecraft runs very well under Precise, but for my hardware a slight change in parameters and settings was necessary.

My settings in the Menu item command line are

java -jar -Xmx1024M -Xms512M minecraft.jar

The previous command syntax was

java -Xmx1024M -Xms512M -cp Minecraft.jar net.minecraft.LauncherFrame

Using the "-cp" or LauncherFram parameters aborts the program.

In Minecraft's video settings I set maximum FPS and Advanced GL. Otherwise, Minecraft starts out fast but quickly slows down and gets choppy. You can kill a spider and it will continue to bite you 2 or 3 times after it has turned over, turned red and disappeared, leaving behind an eye and some green balls.
