BitTorrent will still work if a peer can't accept incoming connections, but download speed will suffer.

I remember that Transmisson was unable to establish connection with ufw thus set up in Ubuntu. I have had to open ports for it make it work.Originally posted by steveriley View PostBitTorrent will still work if a peer can't accept incoming connections, but download speed will suffer.

The protocol itself doesn't require that clients allow inbound connections. I'm not surprised to learn that some clients don't follow the suggestion and enforce incoming connections.
