How can I retrieve files from Trash? And if I deleted a directory, is it possible to retrieve that directory as a unit? I've found lots of posts about emptying the trash, but that's not what I need!!

Re: Retrieving data from Trash
In Dolphin's Places pane, click the Trash folder. Its contents will appear in Dolphin's main pane. To restore any item -- either an individual file or an entire directory -- right-click it. A menu will appear, from which you can select Restore. And there you go.

And if you should happen to Empty Trash ... don't touch anything (on that drive) and try to get it back in these ways:
