Kdenlive MLT error launch

I installed Kdenlive and says upon tryingt to launch:

Fatal Error
"MLT's SDL module not found. Please check your MLT install. Kdenlive will not work until this issue is fixed.."

@ hear on my upgraded 11.04 to 11.10 kdenlive IS working ........on the 11.10 install I get the same error .

on the working ver it seas I have MLT ver. 0.7.4

if you would like me to post anything from my sys. that may help you to track down a fix pleas just ask

Sorry Fintan, I just followed the recipe by adding this ppa:

deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/sunab/kdenlive-svn/ubuntu oneiric main

I did the same

Edit: when i run it in konsole I get this at the end:

QWidget::insertAction: Attempt to insert null action

kdenlive: symbol lookup error: kdenlive: undefined symbol: mlt_service_cache_get_size

When I start from the konsole I get:

$ kdenlive
project monitor connected 
clip monitor connected 
QWidget::insertAction: Attempt to insert null action
QWidget::insertAction: Attempt to insert null action

And all is good.

I do remember mlt was part of the error I had before adding the ppa but not this one.
I do have a few libmlt libraries installed;
libmlt++3
libmlt-data
libmlt4
and somwhat associated;
libc6-xen
melt
frei0r-plugins

I don't know if they are at all needed for kdenlive but hey...

Thanks Teunis, you pointed me in the right direction.

I went into synaptic and found those files as updatable. so did that and voila kdenlive is behaving

i have also tried for debian repo

Update added these ppas

then i ran mike@bears:~/Downloads$ sudo apt-get install --reinstall kdenlive
this promoted 7 software updates and viola its working :-)

The new release of kdenlive is out!

So I uninstalled kdenlive and removed the bleeding edge ppa and then rebooted and ran this:

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:sunab/kdenlive-release && sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get install kdenlive

After that I was prompted for a few software updates... did them and everything worked with the latest 0.8.2 release.
