[Solved] Plasma crashes and programs opening full screen

    Kubuntu11.10-64bit and nVidea graphics

I think the subjects above are related, since about a week programs start full screen and saving something from Firefox8.0 regularly causes a crash of Plasma.
During the saving the download status window also opens full screen.
I've been playing with various windows options and tried with Xrender in stead of OpenGL but the problem remains.

    Any ideas where to look?

I have another install of Kubuntu11.10-32bit without this issue.

What version of KDE are you currently running ? The 4.7.3 version that is almost ready to go into the regular updates does come with a lot of plasma fixes.

I am running 4.7.3 and all updates are current.
Right now the kernel is being upgraded to linux-generic_3.0.0.15.17_amd64.deb

When the upgrade to 4.7.4 did not help I went searching in the System Settings and specifically the Windows Behaviour.
I found there were two identical rules set for XV, after deleting one and switching windows size set to 'remember' in the remaining all was good.
After a day without this issue recurring I marked it as solved.

How these conflicting settings came into existence I don't know, it's a part of the settings I had never before looked at...
