Would USB/DVI Device work with 11.10?

My four year old Dell Vostro 1500 notebook has the VGA port that is on its way out. Both on the Kubuntu side and Windows 7 side I'll get flickering of the external monitor when it's plugged into the VGA port.

I found this device from IoGear, and curious if anybody knows how it will work under Kubuntu before I shell out the $50 for it. Thanks!

      Hi Scotty...

I would agree with vw72, this device doesn't appear to have a good track record with Ubuntu at this point in time....although I was able to find one person who was able to get theirs to work. Did you try using a can of air and blowing it out? If that doesn't/didn't work (as I'm sure your VGA port is connected directly to the motherboard and would be expensive to replace ,) I'm not sure what else to suggest. :-(

Here is another site that deals with the issue, although it is for older versions of Ubuntu.

      Hope this helps. :-)

      Regards...
