Lost my volume keys

Sometime in the last few days I lost my volume keys functionality from my laptop keyboard. The shortcuts are still set correctly but the keys do not respond.

Since pulse audio doesn't work at all I had to install alsa but that worked fine until a few days ago.

Anyone else see this?

Just a thought Fintan but I wonder whether that's another upgrade to 4.7.2 problem.

Is it possible that the system has got your keyboard type wrong?

I don't think so. The @ is where it is supposed to be and so is the é,à,ä,ö,ü.

I tend to agree on the 4.7.2 part.

I had to reinstall 11.10 because I was fooling with my video card drivers. My volume keys are still mute.

I had a similar problem and found that my keys were still mapped to kmix although I had removed kmix. The Veromix widget allowed me to easily remap them. Just a thought.

Thank you for the idea, but I removed pulse audio as it doesn't like my sound card and installed alsa.

Kmix is also still here.
