    KDE package updates with version 4.6.5, on a 4.7.0 desktop

    I am running KDE 4.7.0 from backports, but have received several (34) software updates for KDE components that have version 4.6.5 - among others plasma-desktop. This on two machines.

    Should I install these updates, or will they cause problems for my desktop (which says KDE 4.7.0)?

    Short answer is yes it will mess up your system. What version of kubuntu are you using? It may be you have the wrong backports version in your sources list.

      Thanks, I'm using Kubuntu 11.04.

      Running apt-cache policy kde-runtime shows this;

      kde-runtime:
      Installert: 0~ppa1
      Kandidat: 0~ppa1
      Versjonstabell:
      *** 0~ppa1 0
      500 http://ppa.launchpad.net/kubuntu-ppa...mental/ubuntu/ natty/main amd64 Packages
      100 /var/lib/dpkg/status
      I think this might be because I added experimental to be able to run the new KDE-pim

        Yes, the experimental ppa is not the one to use for a stable system. Sometimes a package gets updated but some others it depends on hasn't yet and bam, it's broken.
