My OS does not see the scanner

I have a fresh Kubuntu Precise P... on a Toshiba Satellite L750D (notebook) and an Epson Stylus SX235W multifunction printer/photocopier/scanner/.
The 2 first functions are performed quite well, but when I try to scan with either Simplescan, Scanlite or XSane nothing happens but Xsane puts out a message about No Scanner Available.

I'd verified the driver's name even if it doesn't match precisely the model of the device Stylus SX235W, seems to make it's work, at least with the first functions. You may see in the snapshot the name of the printer and the drivers "name" tipe Epson-Epson Stylus SX215.

Is there somebody in the forum that might help me about?
Thanks

Hi
I'm sure that someone more expert in this will be by shortly, but, to get you doing something while they are considering things, you might look at the Linux Hardware Compatibility list, if you have not already done that.

http://www.linux-drivers.org/printer_scanner.html

The Epson link will push you through to this site:

http://avasys.jp/eng/linux_driver/

In hopes that this will help a little, again, if you can't get the proper driver from the above, just pop back and post your results and I'm sure someone will be by shortly.

And, since this is your first post, please don't be a stranger, this really is a very friendly, and helpful, forum.

Dear Woodsmoke, the link took me to a dead end road in which Avasys Download Service for Linux (a driver developing company) says that from the December the 22nd 2011, they pass the distribution of the Linux-Epson drivers to the Epson Co. an that everything will be in the Epson site.... . Of course in the E. site you found nothing not even a generic scanner driver that the first company had developed...
Thanks, anyway, for your helpful will

Hello claydoh, thanks! I'll follow and try this instructions line.

Its funny because the multifunctions device name is "Epson Stylus SX235W", but if you put that in Epson's search machine it gives you nothing, even cancelling the Epson word ... I make it "short" you must write in the search window JUST "Stylus SX235" not a letter more i.e. the W that forms part of the models name, because if you do it you will get nothing! from your research...

My problem -from the hardware side- seems to be that I have not a "wireless router", with which a guy in that forum managed to turn arround the problem. I do have only a normal wired one.

To begin I'll install the drivers and see what happens... I'll keep yoou updated with what goes on, thanks!

Hi Woodsmoke, yo need absolutely not to apology, happens so and things meanwhile change. On the other hand, would I tried with more attention in Epson's site -I mean trying shortening the name of the multifunction printer- I would had find those drivers before...
Nevertheless, seems that my problem now, alas the one I post for is to buy a WiFi Router...because seems that is the only way around to connect this "difficult" printer... I have a wire connection (I don't please so much, microwaves going around )
Beside that, don't worry! With my "Linux Ignorance", surely you will have more chances to help me! ))
