no support for android phone? (Sony Ericson Xperia X10)

When running the new 11.04 kubuntu, I have experienced one negative surprise:
When I connect my Android phone to the computer, it is not even recognized? Seems like linux things are linux things worst enemy . My older SE phone seemed to work quite alright although it was running a proprietary OS.

I suspect some kind of a user error is involved, but my attempts at googling solutions are bogged down by tons of spam offers from businesses selling phones. Any hints appreciated.

my wife's phone is seen, but we haven't connected it to a computer in a long while. I cannot remember if we had to enable usb mass storage mode somewhere. (I don't get to play with her Fascinate, so i couldn't say off the top of my head)

Your phone should not be connected to the USB port.

Go to Settings > Xperia > Connectivity > USB CONNECTION MODE > Change the option from MTP to MSC.

        Done!
