      Should this thread be made a sticky? Maybe just a summary of the results as a "howto?" It seems really important. Maybe a wizard could make a linux app to make the same settings (it's currently written in free-dos) which would work at runlevel 5?

        I would say "YES", and morever to keep the link to the wiki since there are many models of hdds that have some version of this issue, and there are multiple solutions and workarounds mentioned there.
