    11.04 Upgrade fail

    Hello,

I would appreciate any advice regarding the following problem.

I opened up the laptop this morning and KPackageKit is pleased to tell me I can upgrade to 11.04, so I think why not, might be fun...

It gets to near the end of "Setting new Software channels" (97%) and falls over with

"Invalid Package information, After your package information was updated the vital package 'ubuntu-minimal' can not be found anywhere". Options are Report bug (I'm sure it's not a bug) or close.

/var/log/dist-upgrade/main.log (last two dozen or so lines only)

2011-04-28 13:30:38,728 DEBUG entry '# deb http://linux.dropbox.com/ubuntu natty main # disabled on upgrade to natty' was disabled (unknown mirror)

    2011-04-28 13:31:23,063 ERROR No 'ubuntu-minimal' available/downloadable after sources.list rewrite+update

2011-04-28 13:31:39,190 DEBUG enabling apt cron job

This is doubtless something I've not attended to rather than a bug, all help appreciated.

Can send full main.log if required (101 lines total). apt.log and term.log contain nothing of interest.

    Best,

    James

    Re: 11.04 Upgrade fail

    I had the same.

I think I just restarted the upgrade. I also got a warning that Google Chrome profile would have to be changed and it failed again. I uninstalled Chrome.. I restarted and progress beyond these points to downloading packages. It failed after 22 packages (of 1229) - a timeout from the server methinks. Its a busy day!

Restarted again. It skips re-downloading the packages and i'm currently at 306 of 1229 so a few more hours yet ...

Best advice to others is to wait a while if you can.

      Re: 11.04 Upgrade fail

I'm always anxious (and a little nervous) to upgrade releases, so please keep the updates coming on this issue. I almost started my upgrade this morning, but decided to check the forums first. Glad I did!

If you are in the US, Argonne National Laboratory's mirror is downloading much faster today than the main server: http://mirror.anl.gov/pub/

I haven't tried Kubuntu for ages, but I'd like to see how 4.6 looks compared to openSUSE 11.4.
