    Digital clock/unable to contact time server

    When I try to adjust the time automatically from the digital clock (widget), I get the message "Unable to contact time server: Public Time Server (pool.ntp.org)". However, I have no trouble pinging that timeserver. Changing to a different timeserver makes no difference. I realize that the timeserver is not really a fixed address, but I've done this several times so I don't think it's just that the timeserver is out of action at the critical moment. I've seen this on two different machines.

    What's going on?

    I have the same problem both with Kubuntu 12.10 and 13.04. In addition with 13.04 (both 32-bit and 64-bit) The time shown on the clock is UTC time without regard for which time zone I select.

      Same type of problem here. Just tried to set the panel clock and the program crashed. My problem might be slightly different, but I filed an bug report:
