Are you trying to make some point?? I can't believe that you asked if kubuntu-restricted-extras was installed.

The video above is a screencast I made, showing firefox playing/streaming the mp4 (not youtube) video using gecko-mediaplayer plugin

yes that's the same I get in all 3 ver. of Kubuntu as I posted above.......... gecko-mediaplayer plugin is using the Gnome mplayer ......

Gecko is needed.

I was hoping for a KDE solution, but so be it.

I'll mark this as solved even though it does not work on chromium here.
