Changing the login theme

There's a place in Systems Settings at Login/Screen where you are supposed to be able to set the theme. I've installed several other themes, but still the only one that shows up in the list is Ethais. How can I install a different one?

Try with konsole / krunner::

kdesudo kcmshell4 kdm

An easier fix

I tried this:

sudo chmod g+w /usr/share/kde4/apps/kdm/themes

and I then successfully installed and utilized a new theme. Now I have to figure out how to modify the opening screen after login to use a different theme -- if there are themes for that.
