I have a directory X with files A, B, C. I want to create similarly named files in directory Y that are symlinked to A, B, C. In other words, when I'm done, Y/A should be a symlink to X/A, etc. It's straightforward but laborious to do this in a shell. Is there a way to do it in Dolphin? I thought of drag/drop, which offers linking as a choice, but that requires having x and Y visible in separate windows, which is often awkward. I'd like to find something other than drag/drop.

Split window helps -- but you still used drag and drop!

I didn't know about View/Split, which certainly makes it easier. But you also used drag and drop. Is there a way to do it without using drag/drop? It would be nice if there was a Link alternative on the menu comparable to Copy.

Re: Creating symlinks with Dolphin or something like it

KDE Development Tutorials > Creating KDE Service Menus

Kubuntu Forums > Topic: Service Menus with Dolphin

Earlier ( Kubuntu Intrepid Ibex (pre-alpha); KDE 4.1 (beta 2) ) > Symlinks by Click.
Seems to work with the Kubuntu 10.10.Before you edit, BACKUP !

Why there are dead links ?
 1. Thread: Please explain how to access old kubuntu forum posts
