    very poor OpenGL performance

i was running 10.04 LTS and upgraded last night to 10.10 and i have noticed that the opengl performance is now really, really poor. i have a ATI Xpress 200M card and i know the legacy drivers no longer are available but 10.04 with the open source drivers was pretty good but now if i have model with over a few hundred polygons the performance is really bad. any hints on what might have changed between 10.04 and 10.10?

Have you tried purging the current drivers and reinstalling fresh? I'm still on Lucid, but I know that the config files can get get a little wacky on upgrades - mine were giving me problems after moving to KDE 4.5.1 and a full re-install of the open source driver got be back up to speed.

Same here. Filed a bug report already. Upgraded from Lucid to Maverick, and basic desktop effects like 'Desktop Grid' are all but smooth.
The driver here is the nvidia, for 7050.
