    CanoScan LiDE 200 not detected

    Distribution: Kubuntu 10.10
    KDE Version: 4.5.5

    Hi.

I am wondering if anyone can help me out here. I am trying to get my Kubuntu 10.10 to detect and use a CanoScan LiDE 200, which is a SANE-compatible scanner. The scanner works perfectly with Windows 7 SP1, but when I connect it to my Kubuntu box, neither skanlite nor scanimage detects it. For instance, here's the output from scanimage.

    Code:
    [scorpio:/home/dtoyama]$ scanimage -L

No scanners were identified. If you were expecting something different,
check that the scanner is plugged in, turned on and detected by the
sane-find-scanner tool (if appropriate). Please read the documentation
which came with this software (README, FAQ, manpages).
Strangely, though, sane-find-scanner does detect it, as below.

    Code:
    [scorpio:/home/dtoyama]$ sane-find-scanner

     # sane-find-scanner will now attempt to detect your scanner. If the
     # result is different from what you expected, first make sure your
     # scanner is powered up and properly connected to your computer.

    found USB scanner (vendor=0x04a9, product=0x1905, chip=GL847?) at libusb:001:041
     # Your USB scanner was (probably) detected. It may or may not be supported by
     # SANE. Try scanimage -L and read the backend's manpage.
I checked the SANE website and made sure the scanner is supported by SANE.

What else can I do to get my scanner working? Any advice would be appreciated.

This suggests that it will not work - https://wiki.kubuntu.org/HardwareSup...sScannersCanon

sane (the scanner backend and drivers) didn't have support for that range of scanner chips until after 10.10 came out.

        Hi all...

However, post #8 on this thread (and just found out that it's same one from the link you gave ) did give a possible solution.

        Hope this helps...
