Toshiba SATELLITE PRO C650 and kubuntu 10.10

Hi everybody ...

I can not shutdown or reset the system (always gets the blue colour kubuntu) installed on Toshiba SATELLITE PRO C650. Maybe a video related issue (Intel Mobile Graphics Media Accelerator 4500M). It would a great deal if i solve this problem, since i am going to install kubuntu on such brand laptops instead of windows 7 at my office. I should greatly appreciate if you help me. Thanks in advance.

Alt-F2 "kdesudo kate" without the quote marks.

Now open the file /etc/default/grub and look for this line:

GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet splash"

Delete the word "splash" so it looks like this:

GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet"

Now "File > Save" and exit kate, and reboot. You won't see the splash, but at shutdown it should go all the way.

Probably there are more elegant ways to set it up to work correctly for the Intel 4500M, but I don't know it.
