I have an NVIDIA Geforce FX5200 card and when I checked for additional drivers, the nvidia-96 driver was listed with the message "This driver is activated but not currently in use." I installed nvidia-common and this added another drive NVIDIA accelerated graphics driver (version current). With this and the nvidia-96 activated, the System Settings > Display and Monitor showed that I no longer had the default monitor.
I now find that Kaffeine no longer works, ie black screen and no sound. Also, for all driver combinations I cannot get Gimp to show a preview of an image to be printed. When I print, a blank image is output. I am hoping that both of these problems are related to me using the wrong video driver. I would like to know how to get the correct video driver for my card so that Kaffeine, Gimp (and GoogleEarth) work correctly.
