    [solved] Still no update-notifier

I thought this might be a temporary alpha-type problem, but maybe not.
I still get no notifications of available updates, even after doing a manual apt-get update.
OK, it's not the end of the world, but it's a cool feature, and ought to work. I am beginning to think that it's my installation that's messed up. ps aux | grep update returns nothing.
What package/s should be installed for update notifications (in kde, not gnome) to work?

    Here the KPackageKit is nagging

    Nag settings:

    System Settings > Software Management

    Cli check:
    Code:
    /usr/lib/update-notifier/apt-check --human-readable

Yep, that was it -- somehow, kpackagekit got removed (probably during a partial update).
Reinstalling it fixed the problem, but frankly, the script is just as good. I think somewhere there is a utility that will put it in the system tray, then I won't need kpackagekit (muon works very well).
