    [SOLVED] KDE Daemon Crashing

Maveric Beta 32 bit plus all updates. This means no cookie manager etc - desktop is barely functional

Dunno if its due to the updates though, I also tried install the NVIDIA 260.19.06 beta drivers .... (yah yeh i know), ran into problems with those uninstalled and reverted to packages, now the system is a mess ...

    Anyone else seeing this?

Going to try 64bit maverick on a different partition.

Yes, exactly the same stiuation here on my maverick setup. Latest updates ruined my KDE desktop. Symptoms are: No cookie management, no kde services, a kdeinit4 crash at start which complains about a dysfuncional "KDED" thing... I hope it'll get fixed in a few days. And I don't think it is a video driver issue (I'm using an ATI card with open source radeon drivers).
    Regards

Rats, doesn't bode well for my 64bit install then, unless I hang off installing updates.

What I experienced today, using todays daily-live, was xorg starting then crashing, and repeating forever. Nothing would stop it.
It went to the kde kdm startup graphic then back to blank screen and back again.

There was also a huge update from todays iso compared to yesterdays.

Ah, I got that to and thought it was my manual nvidia install that buggered it. I'm actually running the manual nvidia driver install at the moment because its the only video that works,

I will wait a couple of days before trying that. Using Ubuntu , its easy to use the manual method, because it comes with all the tools. Kubuntu needs 50 more megs of download in order to start using the nvidia.run command.
