Something is messing with my fonts

Quite often, when I come out of System Settings, my fonts have been mysteriously changed back to the system default. Well actually, it's usually just the General font that has been changed. Is anyone else having this problem?

    Regards .....

No, never had this happening to me - neither
Have you installed the font you're using as ordinary user or as root?

Thought as much. You should always install your fonts as root (regardless if it's Lucid or Maverick).
Open Systemsettings > Fontinstaller as ordinary user and delete the fonts you installed as ordinary user. Then run Font Installer as root using kdesudo systemsettings and install your fonts there.

If you use the font installer in Systemsettings > System Administration > Font Installer, when you try to install a font, it pops up a box asking if it is "personal" or "system wide", the latter meaning root. Choosing system wide will prompt you for the password, and you should be good to go with it. I'm not sure if older versions of kde worked this way -- I did it the hard way, using debian tools (don't).

After some update, mine went the other way -- all the system fonts got very small.

System Settings > Common Appearance and Behavior > Application Appearance > Fonts

You can either set them individually, or all at once using the "Adjust All Fonts" button.

That way, you'll have to enter the password again for *every* font you want to install.
Thus it's better to run kdesudo systemsettings and then install fonts.
