[solved] Gnome network manager won't run under Kde

Dsl support in Knetworkmanager is broken, so I always have to use the Gnome network manager, which works fine.
However, since I can't install Gnome network manager and its dependencies without an internet connection, already with Lucid I had to go through the hassle of first installing Ubuntu (so I have the Gnome network manager) and then installing kde-full on top of it.
This worked fine in Lucid, so I did the same now in Maverick. It also worked fine - upt to the point where I tried to run the Gnome network manager. On Lucid, I simply had to run "nm-applet" from the Run dialog, and then it worked fine. I only had to add an entry for it in the startup programs, since it wouldn't start automatically.
On Maverick, the Gnome network manager works fine under Gnome. However, when I tried to run "nm-applet" under Kde, *nothing* happened - no icon in the system tray, nothing else. I already tried to add it to the startup programs so it's automatically run at startup, but that didn't do anything else either.
Do you have to do something else still to run the Gnome network manager under Kde in Maverick?

    Solved this myself
    *pats self on shoulder*

I've now completely purged (including config files) the packages knm-runtime and plasma-widget-networkmanager, they were useless anyway.
After a reboot, I tried to run nm-applet agin, and now it works! It seems the knm crap that was still installed kept it from working.

i do the same thing, i love plasma-widget-networkmanagement, how it looks and how it works...... erm.... WHEN it works. As a truck driver i'm using many different wifi connections in many different locations and it seems pwn just can't keep up.

Soooo, i run nm-applet, which works really good. I have found that i only need to remove plasma-widget-networkmanagement for nm-applet to work. I've never removed knm-runtime, which makes me wonder now if I should lol.

No reason to still keep knm-runtime installed. At best it's useless and does nothing, at worst it's hindering proper operation of nm-applet. Better be sure and uninstall it, so it can't cause any problems.
I've uninstalled both on Lucid and Maverick, and nm-applet works fine now.
