Please do not use the CODE tag when pasting content that contains formatting (colored, bold, underline, italic, etc) Use the QUOTE tag instead.
The CODE tag displays all content as plain text, including the formatting tags, making it difficult to read.
I can play videos on youtube but without sound. It's the same whether I'm using the 64-bit flash plugin or the 32-bit flash installer in the repos. Sound works perfectly in all other applications.
Never mind. I installed padevchooser. It's a pulse audio device chooser. It let me change some settings. I think it was disabling the HDMI that did the trick.
Thanks for sharing the solution! I posted a HOWTO here for sound issues in 9.10, and yes, the pulse audio control is pretty handy if pulse audio is installed (sound is STILL a mess, how sad)
