    Wobbly Windows....

    Hi all...

Ever since the major updates were installed on my system, wobbly windows isn't very fluid. When I drag a windows back and forth, it looks blocky as if though the redraw rate isn't fast enough or something. If I disable it, it looks better but there is still some slight stuttering. Any ideas on this?

    Thanks in advance!

    Regards...

Are these the 4.8 updates? (I still have 4.7.4)

    What video card and driver?
I'd rather be locked out than locked in.

Does it do the same for a new user? From what I have experimented with wobbly windows in the past was it sometimes behaved abit funny when updating or playing with the settings and from what I could tell it was a config error.

Can't remember if I needed to just restart kwin or if I need to reset it to get it to act normally...

        How would I do both?

@SecretCode: How would I check the version of KDE? The driver version is 195.36.24 and I'm using a Nvidia GeForce 8600M GS chipset. My copy of 10.04 is 64 bit.

        Regards...

To reset kwin rename or move its configs (~/.kde/share/config/kwin*). To restart kwin (needed after renaming the configs) run "kwin --replace" in krunner (or "kwin --replace & disown" in konsole)

            Thank you. :-)

I just reloaded the OS, it works a lot better now.

I consider this solved. Thank you both for your help.

              For future reference:
              Code:
              kwin --version
is one way. You can also find it in Dolphin, or most KDE apps, Help > About KDE
