    KDE Version

    Hi,

I seem to have 2 different version of KDE installed, after my last upgrade.

    Here is what I get:

    Wilhelm@null:~$ lsb_release -a
    No LSB modules are available.
    Distributor ID: Ubuntu
    Description: Ubuntu 10.04 LTS
    Release: 10.04
    Codename: lucid

    Wilhelm@null:~$ kded --version
    Qt: 3.3.8b
    KDE: 3.5.10
    KDE Daemon: $Id: kded.cpp 711061 2007-09-11 09:42:51Z tpatzig $

But when I open the file manager(dolphin) and view "about KDE" I get:

    KDE - Be Free!
    Platform Version 4.4.2 (KDE 4.4.2)

    Any ideas?

    Re: KDE Version

"kded" is the KDE3 KDE Daemon. This most likely means you have at least one KDE3 application installed, and is nothing to worry about. (The KDE3 desktop is no longer around, but KDE3 apps still work)

KDE4's KDE Daemon is called "kded4", and running kded4 --version should yield the proper version.
