Printer Configuration is also broken here. Printer still appaers on CUPS, but I can't print anything

I'm using the PPA listed on the Kubuntu website to get the RC1 packages. I've managed to upgrade SOME packages, but I currently 158 that are being held back and kdebase-runtime-data that can't upgrade:

Any ideas how I can resolve this? Usually I upgrade via:

sudo apt-get clean && sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get upgrade

And when that didn't work I used aptitude as that's usually better and resolving dependencies:

sudo aptitude upgrade

Both aren't able to verify why packages are being held back. =/

Try replacing

sudo apt-get upgrade

with

sudo apt-get dist-upgrade

Read

man apt-get

to understand the difference

Yep, that did the trick. Thanks a lot! Unfortunately, the main reason I wanted to try KDE 4.5 RC1 was to see if I could the Blur effect on my machine. Unfortunately, I can't. =[

Noticed a curious issue with the screensaver:
The first time after booting into Kde, the screensaver activates properly after the timeout set (5 min).
Any consecutive time however, the screensaver fails to activate

How do you activate the screensaver manually? (Going to systemsettings > Display > Screensaver and clicking on "Test" is a bit tedious...)

Worked here (was enabled by default), but I turned it off because it's just plain ugly >
The blur effect is something that always really annoyed me about Windows.

Ah, see, I'm off the opinion the transparency only really works with gaussian blur as well, otherwise usability is severely reduced

- I can't change the widget style for the root account (kdesudo systemsettings > Appearance). Custom colours work fine, but I can't set a widget style other than Oxygen. I can select a widget style from the drop down list, and the preview is shown properly with my custom colours, but when I press "Apply", the style is not applied - instead the widget style remains stuck at Oxygen.

Have you solved this problem? I have the same problem here, do you know how to solve it?

Also, Printer Configuration is broken in KDE 4.5 So I can't print
"There is no KCModule system-config-printer-kde/system-config-printer-kde.py"
But system-config-printer-kde is installed correctly

I have installed system-config-printer-gnome and Printer autodetection library and installed my printer with Printing in my "Programs - System - Printing "settings and for now it works with this work arround. Sory for my bad englische.
Wathing for KDE 4.5 support.
