Earlier today I applied an update to VLC media player and it worked fine. Later I upgraded to KDE 4.3.3. Now VLC gives a "segmentation fault".

Saw your remark there. Was almost going to dist-upgrade to KDE 4.4.3 - had the ppa added and check the proposed and backports repos - but seeing what you said, decided to wait some more.Slava Ukraini! πΊπ¦

Well, after reading the comments on
I decided to go ahead and upgrade to KDE 4.4.3. No problems at all. Rebooted after the update, and here I am, with KDE 4.4.3. No problems.KDE SC 4.4.3 is a recommended upgrade for everyone running KDE SC 4.4.2 or earlier versions. As the release only contains bugfixes and translation updates, it will be a safe and pleasant update for everyone.Slava Ukraini! πΊπ¦
