    (solved) DVD burner not recognized

I dual boot my laptop (XP and Kubuntu 10.04) and recently replaced my DVD burner. The new burner shows up in the BIOS and it shows up fine in XP and plays CD's. If I put in the same CD in Kubuntu, Device Notifier never notices it. K3B doesn't see it.

    Stuck.

    Re: DVD burner not recognized

I have found other inconsistencies with this device so I ask the moderators to remove this post until I can get more facts on this case.
