    Desktop Effects Disabled Yesterday

    Howdy All,

So I downloaded all of my updates on 10.04 the other day and for some reason upon my next reboot desktop compositing is disabled and I cannot enable it... :-/ Any suggestions on what could be preventing it? I am running on a laptop and I have checked and double checked my power settings and this is NOT what is disabling it.

Oh, sorry. I have an nVidia 260GTX mobile card with the 195.18.36 driver installed. My 3D is working fine in games... Just not effects, the updates did not include a kernel update and my effects where working for a short bit after the installation of this same driver.

I dont have eney nVidia hardware but have seen some posts about it recentley.........

the next thing I would do is make a new user acct. and see if it could do effects ....if so then it's a mesed up config in your /home acct.

if not then the prob. is probebley somthig with the nVidia driver.

        ?

Run glxgears -- I'm guessing it won't run, indicating that you'll have to reinstall the driver.

FYI, Nvidia released 195.36.24 today: http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=122606
