OpenOffice 30+ seconds to open a file

Here's my current experience of OpenOffice on Lucid.

File | Open: Blank screen for 13s.
Open filename: 10s.

Any other KDE application, eg. Kate, practically instantaneous.

Another delay:

Start typing text. It will stop after a few letters. then it takes a couple of seconds before the rest of the word appears.
Weird.

It only happens with the first typed word of a new document.

Actually, I get that too.

I presume it's an OpenOffice problem as I don't get the same things with any other apps.

In Kubuntu Karmic there were issues with Open Office too. Sometimes helped to remove openoffice.org-kde, see for example this topic http://kubuntuforums.net/forums/inde...opic=3108682.0 . Maybe here is the same remedy.
