    [FIXED] Problem: No audio for most applications but not all

    I'm using the lucid release candidate. I've done 2 installs and experienced the same issue.

    Most applications can't produce any sound but there are a few that do:
    - amarok
    - gwenview (previewing movies)
    - dragon player
    - kde greeting jingle
    - kde systeme settings > multimedia > device preferences > when testing HDA Intel (ALC1200 analog) as output
    - kmplayer when specifying the phonon player instead of the default mplayer player
    Additionally these applications are able to produce sound simultaneously.

    Applications without sound:
    - flash
    - games (chromium, pokerth)
    - wine games
    - smplayer, mplayer, kaffeine, vlc

    Anyone have an idea of how to fix this?

    Yeah having the same problems here, using 64 bit flash not the one from the repo's not sure if that makes a difference

      Fixed. Just had to move the PCM lever in the sound mixer. So that was easy.
      I wonder why only some apps are affected by that lever though.

      Also does anyone know if there exists a panel sound widget for the mixer like for the kde 3.X series where you had small sound levels directly inside the panel (without having to click on a speaker icon) and could basically change the sound volume in one click?

        Thanks fixed it for me too, strange as I've never had to do that before or on ubuntu
