Different widgets for each Desktop missing

The title says it all. I searched the web a bit but couldn't find something about. Why this feature is unavailable with the new plasma desktop? Or did I miss it? So I can't set different wallpapers and and widget sets for each virtual desktops. Beside that I thought I can use activities instead of virtual desktops, however shortcut key (meta+tab) for switching to next activity doesn't work as well. Any ideas...?

--> Bug 342186 - Global shortcuts do not work to control activity switching: https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=342186

      Marked as fixed with: https://projects.kde.org/projects/kd...d2294bf351e20a

The Ubuntu repository version could be older than this fix.

      There are the kubuntu-ci PPA:

That's not good. I really liked that feature.

Here is an earlier post about it on this forum. This won't be popular with the desktop cube lovers including me.
Installing Plasma 5 in Kubuntu 14.10

They suggest using activities for this. Has anyone tried this?
Different widgets/wallpapers for different virtual desktops?

Thanks for the replies. It is a pity that different widget sets unavailable in KDE5. I hope it will be added ASAP.

Yes - you could use the activities as the virtual desktops. Then you could have different widgets and applications for each activity-desktop.

However, the desktop cube only works on virtual desktops, not for activities....

Secondly, I think your hypothetical Peter is a figment of your fantasies. The real-life Peter is in no way this scrupulously organized, he uses Windows, mis-manages his affairs in some haphazard way and even with a bit of organization will probably never manage to compartmentalize every aspect of his computing life in such a meticulous manner. Or if he does, he’ll be spending his time principally in his mother’s attic and not jetsetting with his smug business life and perfectly formed wifelet.
