Returned to login screen after shown consolekit warning

    Hi all,

I am struggling to log into kubuntu. When I try to log in I am shown the warning "warning: cannot open consolekit session: unable to open session: the permission of the setuid helper is not correct". When I accept the warning it returns me to the login screen. My mouse and trackpad are also not working.

I have seen other posts with similar problems, however, everyone else seems to log in after accepting the warning.

    Any help is appreciated.

    Virtual console

    1) When you are on the log in screen

    - don't log in
    - press the Ctrl+Alt+function key ( Ctrl+Alt+F1)
    - the virtual console should start: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Virtual_console

    2) With the virtual console

    - start or try to start the X with the command:

    Code:
    startx
Do you get more error messages or is the graphical session starting ?

      Thanks for the reply Rog132,

Turns out that I'm a complete noob... I have Kubuntu 12.04 not 13.04. Nonetheless, part of your advice was still helpful. Here's what I did to solve the problem:
      1) Didn't log in.
      2) Pressed Ctrl+Alt+Function key (Ctrl+Alt+F1)
      3) Logged in with the virtual console
      4) typed "sudo dpkg --configure -a"
      5) logged out
      6) restarted

      Everything worked after that.

      Thanks a lot.
