Samba share "does not exist" ??

    Hi,

I have a network of Dapper and WinXP macines. Samba is set up in all the Dapper machines. I have set up shared in all the Dapper machines. If on machine student11 I go to KControl > Internet & Network > Samba, I can see the share is present. If I go to a different machine and look for the share, I can find it however when I want to get into the directory that was shared in the first machine, I get a message "The file or folder smb://student11/homework does not exist". I have permissions on the student11/homework directory set for Group = ray and that is the group that I am loged in on with in the 2nd (second) machine. I am using simple file sharing.

By the way, I get similar responses from any of the Dapper machines.

Any ideas what I am doing wrong?

    Ray

Have you got your security level for Samba set to "share"?

Yes however I do have directory permissions set as requiring user or group (all others forbidden) on student11 machine. I have not made changes to my /etc/fstab file in either machine to accomodate the Samba shares. Is that necessary?
