[DESKTOP] hard drives -- one NAS and one SDD

freshly installed bionic, and i can't get my NAS -- a WD MyCloud -- to mount at startup, which means that amarok doesn't treat it as a local drive. i'm really hoping there is another alternative than moving all of my music files to a local drive.

also, a similar, related question: i have a samsung 1TB SDD that i would love to put into my system, but i don't have more than a vague idea where to start, and that is to shut down the computer, and physically install it... i'm pretty sure it needs more than that to actually become a useful item.

eather way you do just exactly that ,,"and that is to shut down the computer, and physically install it" restart the box and enter your BIOS/UEFI setup and check that the new drive is in AHCI mode and that any other drives are in the same order they were before (so you may want to look in their and see what order their in now).

if it's brand new , after putting it in the computer (and checking those things in the BIOS/UEFI) you restart , open partition manager and put a filesystem on it , then use it .

if it's been used before then it will most likely have a file system on it and you just use it .

it is brand new, still in the box, never been used.

i have a bunch of hard drives. all but two are external, and connected via USB. the exceptions are the NAS, which is connected via WIFI, and the internal drive... so i don't think the order is going to be that much of an issue, but...

i don't know: i have never installed a new hard drive on this computer, much less a new SSD, and i don't know where to look if it is in the BIOS.

Looks like Vinny gave the best response in Post #2. As for where in BIOS to look, you can look everywhere, but try suggestions like these:

As for how to access your BIOS, it helps to know your motherboard type (e.g., ASUS, MSI, etc.). But here's a guide:
