    BlueDevil claims no adapter found

title says it all--I have internal bluetooth on my laptop (Thinkpad L540), but BlueDevil gives an error message, saying "no adapter found".

Any ideas for how to get bluedevil to recognize my bluetooth? Do I need to install a driver/firmware?

    Thank you!
    I run Kubuntu 18.04 LTS.

Does the light on the laptop show that Bluetooth is turned on (i.e. has power)?

My laptop does not have an indicator light for bluetooth. However, I am getting the same message after making sure that bluetooth is turned on in the bluetooth systray applet. (screenshot here)
      I run Kubuntu 18.04 LTS.
