I wanted to try a new install with yesterday's issued Kubuntu 14.04.4.
Downloaded the iso, checked the hash and used Unetbootin to put it on a new USB flash drive.
Whatever I did I could not boot any further than a black screen.
I made the drive with dd, with the Startup disk creator and on different drives, each time impossible to get a full boot.
Then I tried on a different Thinkpad laptop and it booted perfectly...
It took me a few seconds to realise what was different and immediately tried it on the original laptop, it worked!
The difference is, it won't boot after a restart, it will boot on a cold start.
