    Doubled mouse pointer

Since updating to 14.10, my mouse pointer gets randomly corrupted, maybe once every other day, and I have to log out and in to fix it. It splits into 2 half-height pointers, spaced horizontally by about 2cm, with only the left-hand one being functional.

    Any ideas, please?

I thought the problem had gone away, but no, it appeared again this morning with a bizarre new twist. After clicking on a thumbnail image in Firefox, the cursor doubled up as before but also had acquired a chunk of the thumbnail image, positioned just below the cursors, following them around the screen. Does anybody have any idea how I might probe this fault if it happens again? Does anybody know what's going on?

    [Intel DQ77KB motherboard, i5-3470T CPU (using inbuilt 2500 GPU), Kubuntu 14.10, kernel 3.16.0, X.Org 1.16.0 (no xorg.conf) driver=i915]

[Edit: Also relevant maybe: workspace decorations and desk theme set to "Oxygen" defaults, cursor theme "Oxygen White" as per default, application appearance tuning set to high resolution & high CPU, desktop effects disabled.]

No answer but this has been known to happen on systems running Steam or a VM, is this something you have?

No, neither of those. Oh well. It's only happened twice since I started this thread two weeks ago, and is fixed by logging out and in, so while it's puzzling, it's not much of a problem.
