How display your REGIONS holidays in Korganizer

There are a lot of questions about how to do this dating back quite a few years.

This post is for a fully updated Neon Dev Stable machine and a Neon User machine as of this instant. Korganizer 5.10.2 .

For NEW FOLKS , please be aware that "just because you celebrate a regional holiday" does not mean that the Devs can provide a calendar plugin showing YOUR regional holidays. There are devs who work on this and if one would actually make their own calendar which displays certain regional holidays as repeating holidays, these can be uploaded to KDE look and let people try them out. It may end up being a "plugin".

    in Korganizer

    Settings / Configure Korganizer / Time & Date / Holiday/

Depending on things it should display something like: "Select holiday region".

Use the drop down menu to select your "region" such as North America (english) for this user.

Below that in "working period" ...UNtick..."exclude holiday"

Click the apply button and it requires a restart of Korganizer.

Hopefully the desired holidays for your "region" will appear and Korganizer will AUTOMAGICALLY select a different colour than colours which are already being used. One can, of course, select another color by clicking the colour box in the calendar.

As an example of "region", this user's calendar FOR MARCH...ONLY...displays "St Patrick's Day" .

    It does NOT display:
    Mardi Gras
    Ash Wednesday
    International Women's day
    the Ides of March
    Earth day / Sun Day..
    the Vernal Equinox.

if one enables "Google Calendar" one will see the additon of:

If "Holidays in the United States" is ticked one will see the addition of: Daylight Savings time and ANOTHER St. Patricks day.

So, a LOT goes into the consideration of the Devs as to just "what" should be in a calendar which is going to be used world wide.

There are also a few plugins such as displaying a day of the month picture from Wikipedia.

    Settings / configure Korganizer / plugins/

Wikipedia Picture of the Day Plugin for Calendars
Wikipedia "This Day in History' Plugin
    Date Numbers Plugin for Calendars.

    and

    Other Plugins.

One will have to added other plugins from KDE store for them to appear below the title.

    Again, as to "your" region...

Let us say, for the sake of argument, that your business has a calendar which displays days that "might" be of interest to a wider world one can export that as an "ical" and put it up at KDElook to see if anyone salutes.

As an example there was a kind of "running thread" about the Tour De France calendars a few years back, don' know if they are still there or not.

KDE look also has Jewish calendars, Muslim calendars, "women's" calendars, there are lot of them.

And, unfortunately some of them may work less than well, but...if it does not work well then possibly post so that the dev can be aware of the error or just delete the calendar.

Link to KDE Store ( formerly Look ).

if there are any questions please ask.
